BABY GASSED. P.A. DUNEDIN, August 12. A one-year-old child, Leone Margaret Hobcraft, was fatally gassed at her home. 47 Serpentine Avenue, yesterday afternoon. The child’s mother left her with two small boys in the house for a few minutes, and when she returned, found the infant lying on the floor beside a gas stove, the taps of whicn had been turned on. The child was rushed to hospital, but attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

BOOKMAKING CHARGE.

Clarence Arthur Frederick Trevella a hotel porter, was charged with carrying on business as a bookmaker when he appeared at a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.
