(Our Own Correspondent.! WESTPORT, August 11. Mr. and Mrs. J. Ward have returned frnm Nelson. Messrs H. Hawes and G. Rhind have been re-elected to the directorate of the Karamea Dairy Company. Mr S Crowe has returned to Greymouth, after, visiting Ms parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crowe, the Settlement. The Westport Bowling Club at its annual meeting elected the following officers: President, 'Mr. G. Powell; Patron Mr. J. Metson; Vice-Presidents, Messrs A. A. Wilson, C W Treloar, C. Roselli and R. Hansby; Hon. Secretary Mr. Greener; Assistant-Sec-retary, Mr. P. Struthers; Hon Treasurer, Mr Claude Mitchell; General Committee, Messrs Daily, Greener, Gibbard, Brown, Fox, Fairbairn and Payne; Social Committee, Messrs Fletcher, Roselli, Greener, Gibbara, Payne Wilson, Fox, Morley; Auditor, Mr J. Taylor. The provisional committee for the establishment of a Community Centre has circulated a preliminary report to 50 organisations and groups in Westport. Mellsop, Missioner to China, where he was stationed for seven years and for three years four months of that time under Japanese rule, yesterdoy visited schools in Westport and also attended a Rotary dinner. The following offers were elected at the annual meeting of the Buliei Progress League, last evening: President, Mr. J. C. Brown; Vice-President, Mr. F. H. Kelly; Auditor, Mr. A. laylor; Secretary, Mr. M. B. Scully. Proposals were made that there should be one Progress League to advance the whole of the Buller district, and that while Cape Foulwind and Char leston organisations be autonomous, there should be co-operation among the three organisations. Delegates from Charleston and Cape Foulwind agreed to this. Cape Foulwmd League decided to affiliate with Bullet. Charleston’s representative, Mr. G. Powell, will report to his organisation which will be invited to join the League and send delegates. Mr. J. L.
