LEAGUE FOOTBALL

GAMES FOR TO-MORROW

The fixtures for to-morrow should draw large attendances,’ for at Runanga the two leading teams of the competition meet, and at Wingham Park Marist will play Ngahere. Runanga has the makings of a first class team and it will only take a little more experience for them to be able to defeat Blackball, the only team unbeaten yet. But Blackball continues to play its confident cohesive type of football and w.ll be hard to’upset. Runanga is in strict training for this match, however, and youth .may tell. Marist, who are to play Ngahere are still capable of upsetting calculations, though admittedly, their task to-morrow will be a hard one. They have speed to burn in the backs and with three forwards with rep. honours, to Ngahere’s nil, on paper they should have more than an equal chance of winning. The power behind Ngahere’s attacks and their determination will be difficult to counter.

Junior games will be played at Blackball and Brunner, while fourth grade teams will take the field at Runanga and Wingham Park. Teams are:—

Marist seniors: Hopkins, Malone (2), Coll (2), Dunn, Teen (2), Scott, Mclntyre, /Watson, Mann, Keating, Rochford, Stokes, Mundy, Wallace, Lalor. Bus 1 p.m. Marist juniors (meet P.O. 12.45): Costelloe, Mundy, Kildare, Knapp, Dargan, Willis, Brosnahan, Molloy, Meates (2), Stapleton, Bisphan, Wratten, Brown, Keating, Stokes.
