STOCKTON MINE

Price Paid NOT YET ANNOUNCED. P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, July 4. The following announcement has been made by Mr. William Hardie, Chairman of Directors of the West-port-Stockton Coal Company, of Christchurch: —■ “The Government have taken possession of the Westport-Stockton mine at Ngakawau. The Company have not received any advice from tne Government as to the price which they will pay to the Company for the undertaking. When the Government’s confirmation is received as to the price which they will pay, the press will be notified on the receipt of same, and the shareholders will be advised, by circular, at the earliest possible date. The delay, no doubt, was due to the Minister of Mines, Hon. P. C. Webb, not being able to return from the West Coast to Wellington, until Sunday morning, July 2, and undoubtedly jhe Minister will make an announcement at an early date.”
