NINE PRISONERS TRANSFERRED. P.A. WELLINGTON, July 1. The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office Headquarters advises that during the past fortnight, news pf the transfer of another nine prisoners from Italy has, come to hand. Eleven had escaped to Allied lines and four to Switzerland. This leaves 261 who were known to be in Italian camps at the time of the capitulation whose whereabouts are still unknown. Information has been received that Stalag 357 is at Thorn, and Luft 4 at Sagancable. The report in regard to the International Red Cross delegates’ visit to Stalag 4a at the end of April is that accommodation is comfortable, food menus regularly supervised and hygiene good. There are regular distributions of clothing and a food parcel is issued to each man per week. In detachment, the men work for eight to ten hours da’lv. The average nay is 30 marks. The treatment is good. Church ministers visit the detachments. The library is well stocked.
