After an exceptional spell during which the Buller bar was. workable only under restricted loading, there was considerable activity at the port to-day when shipping was able to depart. The Wingatui, after eighteen days in the port, sailed for Wellington, but only with a small quantity of her usual load. The Karepo also sailed for Wellington and the Kiwitea, which after being barbound for three days at Qreymouth, came back here and completed loading, to-day sailel for Auckland. The Kaimiro, loading for Auckland, is expected to complete to-night and sail to-morrow. WESTPORT, June 22. At a meeting of the Finance Committee of Westport Borough Council last evening, presided over by Cr Howard, it was decided to form a Milk Council under civic adminstration. Mr Cowell, officer attached to the Milk Department at Wellington attended the meeting and discussed the nosition with the council. It was later announced that Mr Cowell would interview milk vendors and report back to the Finance Committee, which will report to the full council for confirmation of its action. The Westport Council has struck the same rate as last year. Heavy consignments of coal are being made by rail from the Buller district to Christchurch as a result of the port of Westport being unworkable, the amount having now mached 400 tons a day.
