RUGBY FOOTBALL
WEST COAST UNION.. Mr. T. Mclntosh presided over the weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby Union last evening. A motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mrs. Rothwell and the late Mr. F. McHugh. The invitation of Canterbury Union to send a third grade representative team to Christchurch was deferred until the next meeting of the Committee.
A vote of appreciation was passed to the Westland Sub-Union and Mr. C. Schroder, for hospitality extended to third grade representative team last Saturday. A vote of anpreciation was passed to the Buller Union for their hospitable treatment of the West Coast team on Saturday last.
One application for re-admission was forwarded to the New eZaland Union.
Fixtures for next week-end are as follows:—
Senior: Blaketown v. Cobden, at Park, No. 1, 3 p.m. (C. Cockburn); Hokitika v. Star-United, at Park, No. 2, at 3 p.m. (R. Longstaff); Celtic, a bye.
'Third Grade: Technical v. Celtic, at Technical Ground, 1.30 p.m. (E. O. Harding): Blaketown v. Cobden at Park, at 1.30 mm. (J. Hogarth). Fourth Grade: Blaketown v. Celtic Park, No. 2, 1.30 n.m. (J. Fulton), : Technical A v Technical B, Technicar Ground, 3 p.m. (R. Ferguson).. N.2. SELECTORS. WELLINGTON, June 20. The following nominations have been received by the New Zealand Rugby Union for the appointment of North and South Island selectors-— North Island: Messrs F. W. Lucas (Auckland), J‘. H. Reid (Wairarapa), A. McDonald (Wellington). T.-French (Waikato), H Whiting (Wanganui), and- C. Brown (Manawatu). South Island: Messrs H. S. Strong (Southland!, P. W. Storey (Canterbury), and B. Collie (Otago). Three selectors are required for each island and the-North Island selection will be by a postal vote of the members of the Council of the New Zealand Union. From the six selectors for the interIsland match three will be appointed to select a New Zealand team to nlay the Services in Wellingtan on September 30. WIN FOR NELSON COLLEGE NELSON. June 19.
