Hon. J. O’Brien, Minister of Transport, accompanied bv Mrs. O Bxien, arrived at 1 p.m. yesterday, and were present at the funeral of the- late Mr. Arthur Flaherty yesterdav afternoon. Corporal N. H. Senior arrived from Christchurch yesterday.

Mr. and’ Mrs. C. Findlay will leave to-morrow for Nelson.

Mr. and Mrs Eric Berry of Atarau, are on a visit to Greymouth.

Miss K. McDonald returned to Blenheim yesterday.

■Mr. S. F. McLellan will leave by this evening’s rail-car for Christchurch.

Miss June Robertson of the Mental Hospital staff, Hokitika, is on a visit to Greymouth.

Mr. T. H. Langford, No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority, left last evening on return to Christchurch.

Mr. H. Hatch of Auckland will leave by this evening’s rail-car on return home.

Mrs. W. Yearsley. Wellington, arrived yesterdav on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G H. Preston, Arnev Street.

The temporary appointment of Mr. Justice Findlay as Judge of the Compensation Count, during the absence through illness of Mr. Justice O’Regan, was announced in the Compensation Court Regulations Gazetted last night.—P.A.

Airways passengers yesterday from Hokitika included: Flight Lieutenant Suttle, for Westport, and Miss Stevenson, for Wellington; from Greymouth. Miss T. Morressey, for Welington; from Westport, Miss Power and Mr. Whale, for Wellington. Today’s. passengers from Greymouth include Mrs. and Master Donaldson.

The funeral of the late Mr. Arthur J. Flaherty took place yesterday afternoon at Karoro Cemetery. There was a large attendance of friends from all parts of the district, testifying to the esteem in which the late Mr. Flaherty was held, while there were numerous floral tributes. Among those present was the Hon J. O’Brien, Minister of Transport. The funeral service at St. Patrick’s Church and at the graveside was conducted bv the Very Rev. Father J. Long, while the pall-bearers were workmates of the deceased.

The death occurred yesterdav at I-lokitika of Mr. William Henry Hannam, of 77 Preston Road, Greymouth, after a lengthy illness. A native of Hokitika, and in his 61st. year, he was for nearly thirty years a waterside worker here. Besides ‘his wife he leaves a family of one son, William ("Frankton Junction) and five daughters. Miss Ethel Hannam and Mrs. AUrquhart (Wellington'), Mesdames F. Higgins and R. Bright (Cobden), and Miss Edna Hannam (Greymouth). He is also survived bv his father, Mr. Wm. Hannam (Christchurch) and two sisters, Mesdames G. Nixon and B. Carter (Wellington).
