POTATO PRICES

PA. WELLINGTON. March IS. Differences as between the prices to be paid potato growers for fair average quality, and for under-grade potatoes, are clearlv defined in an amendment to the Main Crop Potato Price Order. No change has been made in the price for fair average quality potatoes. The main effect of the amending order, is to provide that the maximum price for under-grade potatoes is to be £1 per ton below the defined price for #ai(r average quality potatoes. For May and' June the growers’ prices (namely actual prices for fair average quality and maximum prices for under-grade) are:— Potatoes grown in the South Island: Fair average quality £8 5s per ton f.o.b. 5.1.: for Sutton’s Supreme and King Edward, £7 15s per ton; for other varieties: Undergrade: £7 5s per ton for Sutton’s Supreme and King Edward; £6 15s per ton for other varieties.
Potatoes grown in the North Island (other than “tagged” potatoes): Fair average quality £lO per ton f.o.r. growers’ stations. Undergrade: £9 pe*b ton. Tagged potatoes: Not less than £lO per ton and not more than £lO 10s per ton.
