U.S. LEND-LEASE AID
RECORD ,IN MARCH. [Aust. & N.Z. Press Assn.l (Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 18. President Roosevelt has signed the third extension of the Lend-Lease Act until June 1945. He simultaneously issued a statement that victory would come sooner and would cost less in lives and materials because they pooled their resources as United Nations to defeat the enemy. He pointed out that the lend-lease aid to the Allies in the single month of March, 1944, had amounted to 1,625,000,000 dollars, thus almost equalling in aid the entire first year’s lend-lease operations.
