CHILDREN’S GAME ENDS IN TRAGEDY iP.A. WELLINGTON, Feb, 23. A children’s game of cowboys and Indians ended in tragedy at Lansdown yesterday afternoon, when Allan Dewar, aged eight, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Dewar, was shot in the head with a shotgun by a companion and died later in hospital. The children did not know the gun was loaded. PETROL RATION P.A. WELLINGTON, Feb 24. ‘Tumour it a lymg jade,' said the President of the North Island Motor Union (Mr. A. Grayson), at a meeting of the Union t.o-day, when concern was expressed by some members over a rumour that there would be no petrol for private motorists next month. Mr. P. D. England (Wanganui) said he understood the rumour emanated from Palmerston North. He was told the local committee had it in writing. Mr. Grayson said that was quite incorrect. The Union spent considerable time discussing the petrol position, and set uP a small committee to draft a resolution for submission to the Government.
