LOSS OF U.S. DESTROYER

(Rec. 1.10) WASHINGTON, Jan. 13. The Navy has disclosed that a US. destroyer was sunk by Japanese planes off New Britain on December 27 last. She was the Brownson. There were 298 survivors. lhe Brownson was of 2100 tons. She was commissioned in February. 1942.
