DENNISTON NOTES

[Our Own CorresponCientJ. Mr S.. Braggins who had the misfortune to break his leg in two places is at present an inmate of the Buller Hospital. Miss A. Glendenning of Wellington is spending a holiday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. J. Glendenning. Mr. E. Hills of Canterbury Training College, has been appointed probationary teacher at Denniston, in the place of Miss J. Kelly who has transferred to another school. Mrs J. Meek is away on a' holiday trip. Mr. P. Motley is visiting Hastings. Mr. D. Warne has returned after a trip to the North Island. Sgt. G. Grant has returned to camp after spending leave at Denniston. Mr. and Mrs. H. Smith have returned after spending holidays at Christchurch.

Miss S. Hay.es of Wellington is spending holidays at her home, Denniston. Mr. and Mrs. R. Anderson and family are on a visit to Auckland. Misses A. and M. Meek have returned to Denniston after visiting Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. G. Anderson,, of Greymouth have returned here after spending holidays at Denniston as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. Warne. Gunner J. Hayes, who has been serving in the islands, is at present home on leave. , Miss N. Smith is home from Wellington on a holiday to her parents. In view of the coming of age of Miss J. Allan, Nurse on the staff of the Buller Hosni tai, her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. Allan gave a party at their home on Thursday) last. Those present included -nests from Greymouth and Millerton. Miss Allen was the recipient of numerous presents and tributes were paid to her by Messrs A. McLean and J. Rattray and other speakers, while Mr. J. Meek supplied music for the occasion.
