HARIHARI NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent]. HARI HARI, Jan. 10.

This flat experienced a very heavy down pour of rain, lasting all day, on Friday last. All of the homesteads had their tanks filled, and the waterholes, which had become dried up, are now back to normal. Many farmers were in the midst of haymaking. but I am quite sure that we were all prepared to have the rain even if it prevented the hay being vot into the sheds in a dry condition.

Mesdames Kirby (2), who have been visiting Auckland, have returned. Mr. Jack Woodham has returned to Auckland after spending Christmas and the New Year with his parents at Evan’s Creek. Mr. J. Revell has left on return to Christchurch. Mr. M. Malonev who spent Christmas in Christchurch has returned home.

The late Mr. John Ford who passed away in Christchurch early in the New Year, was well known in this locality, having resided here for a number of years, Before removing to Christchurch. The deepest sympathy is extended to his relations who reside in this district.

Rev. Father Jas Maguire of Ross, in whose parish Hari Hari is included, is at present a patient at Lewisham Hospital, ’t Christchurch, and it may be some time before he will be able to resume his duties. Mr. W. Glass of Mt. Hercules, is seriously ill. .and is a patient at the Westland Hospital. Mr. Frank Ford has returned after spending a holiday in Invercargill.

Miss F. Finnerty, who has been visiting the district, has left on her return to Ross.

Mr. W. Colville has returned after visiting Christchurch and Greymouth. Master J. Scott has returned to- his home after visiting Mrs. G. Diedrich, of Evan’s Creek. Miss Plyliss Rowlev has returned after visiting Reef ton and Christchurch. Messrs George and Sid Searle who have been visiting Hokitika and Grevmouth have returned home. Mr. and Mrs. W. Chandler and Mr. G. Rowley junr., have left on return to Reefton. Miss Pat Foster of Pukekura, is on a visit to her sister, Mrs. P. Mitchell. Mr. H. Kidd, who has been on a holiday visit to Christchurch has returned.
