SHEARERS’ PAY
STABILISED RATES MANDATORY.
P.A. WELLINGTON. Dec. 20. The Minister in charge of stabilisation, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, stressed today that both the farmers and the shearers were required to observe the stabilisation regulations, which controlled the rates paid for shearing, like all other forms of remuneration. The payment or the acceptance of higher rates than the basic rate constituted a breach of the regulations. For most farmers, the basicrate would be the rate paid for the last shearing before December 15 1942. If shearing were done after that date, but the shearers had been engaged' on or before that date tnen .the basic rate would be that agreed ' upon when the shearers were engaged. Stabilisation, sa'd Mr. Sullivan, benefited all, and all must accept the obligations under it.
