Born in England, Mr Symes went to New Zealand at the age of 12. He serv; ed with New Zealanders in Gallipoli and in France in the last war. and was wounded at Messines. He had been ill for some time. She had been in ill health for a number of years, and went to Picton a fortnight ago for a rest. She was born in Russia and arrived in New Zealand with her husband about 30 years ago. They spent nine years at Auckland and then left for the United States, returning and settlingiat Wellington some twelve years ago. Her husband, a daughter and three sons survive her.
