RUGBY, Dec. 13. A New Zealander, Wing Commander W. V. Crawford Compton, D. 5.0., D.F.C., and Bar, leader of the Spitfire Wing, which has made hundreds of offensive sorties from Britain in 1943, ha's been presented with a Czech silver flying badge in recognition of the fact that several Czech pilots served in mixed squadrons under his command. He has already received a United States Silver Star, lie destroyed at least seventeen enemy planes. Members of the Women s Voluntary Services are to serve overseas. It has been decided to send, in the first place, ten volunteers to a' aistrict chain of “Leave Clubs” for noncommissioned ranks to open in Italy. The ages range from 28 to 45.
