What was actually being sold was the goodwill and the publican’s license, and the attendant sub-lease. Without the license there would be no payment foi’ goodwill. The lease was of no value without the publican’s license, that the license was purely personal property, and was not an interest in land, and that as all the consideration money was being; paiu for the license and its goodwill, the committee was not concerned with the transfer of the lease. Mr. Meredith (for the Crown) offered no objections to consent being given, except for the point that a contract was drawn in one lump sum for the lot.
