Competition matches played on tne R. Tennis Club’s courts over the week-end resulted: Championship Buttons, men’s doubles; F. Archer, O. Sharpe (holders) defeated A. Archer and Woods 9/5; Hubbard Buttons, ladies’ doubles: Misses Heslop and Simmiss (holders) lost to Miss Bierwirth and Mrs. Lawry 1/7; Ladder match: Storey defeated Boot 9/3. i At a sitting here of the Armed Forces Appeal Board Messrs W. Meldrum, P. J. McLean and A. Panther, with Mr. C. F. Shapcott (secretary) sine die adjournments witn leave to adopt appeals were granted in the following cases heard: Terrace Coal Coy for G. H. Millar (Deputy); Murray Creek Coal Co for E. T. Storey (miner); Nicholls Coal Co for W. J. Russell; Pyramid Coal Coy for W. R. Blom (miner) and E. F. Roiler'son (Underviewer); Burkes Creek Coal Coy (further extended release; A. Walker, S. N. Carter, J. B. Penmgton (truckers) and W. Bierwirth, S. J. Hessell and L. Harris (miners); Defiance Coal Coy for R. W. Loughnan (binns boy); Burnwell Coal Coy for W. G. Ward (miner). Sine die adjournments were granted in the following: B. J. Cummings (transport operator; R. N- Kerr (, driver); D. A. R eid (carrier), . H. King (transport driver); C. D. Robertson (truck driver); W. 1. Hempseed (tsorekeeper). In the case of Banks and Party application foi J H. Mulligan (builder) for extended release the application was refused. E. McMahon applied tor release of his son J- L. McMahon from the Air Force, which was lecom mended for two months.
