DENNISTON NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent]. Mr A. Thomson, who earlier in the year sustained injuries at .a football match, has returned after spending several months in the Christchurch Public Hospital. Miss D. Holbrook, of Dunedin, is at present staying with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs R. Holbrook.

Pte. W’. Pearson, 2nd. N.Z.E.F., has returned after spending holidays in Christchurch. Mr Ri. Watson, who has been a patient at the Buller Hospital, has returned home. At the fortnightly meeting of the Denniston Miners’ Union executive, Mr J. Longmuir tendered his resignation as chairman. Mr Longmuir has occupied this position for a good number of years and has always proved himself an efficient member, and has carried out his duties to the greatest satisfaction. 11l health has compelled him to relinquish his position. His resignation was accepted with regret. The Youth Club held its first big night in the R.S.A. Rooms on Wednesday night. There was a large crowd present. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was spent by all. Spirited music was supplied by Mesdames H. Smith, E. Millbank and Bainsbridge, and Messrs J. and D. Meek. Mr G. Cunningham, junr., was M.C.
