WESTPORT NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent]. High tides. Port of Westport: a.m. P-m. Monday, Nov. 29 11.10 11.36 WESTPORT, Nov. 28. Karepo arrived on Friday from Auckland and the Kaimai from Wellington. Te Aroha was expected from Wellington during the week-end. The Alexander, which was due from Nelson on Friday was diverted to Greymouth. Flight Sergeant R. Reynolds arrived on Friday from Christchurch. Mr and Mrs G. Wylie, of Christchurch, are visiting Westport and are the guests of Mr and Mrs W. Thompson, Peel Street. Mi’ and Mrs W. Baillie who have been visiting relations here, left for Christchurch by Thursday’s railcar. Mr C. Walker left for Christchurch on Thursday. A.C.2 F. Foote has arrived from Marlborough on leave. Two seven-valve radio sets valued at £35 each are being installed in the Buller Hospital. These .are the first of the amenities donated by the Buller Hospital Comforts Committee to be placed in the hospital. The Westport, Denniston and Granity Fire Brigades went to Otira on Friday for the annual West Coast fire brigades’ competitions, which were held yesterday. The hon. secretary of the Buller District Health Camo Committee acknowledges the following donations: Registered Medical Nurses’ Assn. £1 Is. Buller Hospital Board £3, Westport Technical High School £3 6s Bd, puoils of W.T.H.S. 8s 6d, Blackwater Junior Red Cross £1 7s lOd; total donations to date £5l 5s 6d.
