NEW BORE IN TARANAKI P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 18. Driling has begun at Ngamotu Road, New Plymouth, on the latest site selected for oil search by the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Limited. This bore, to be known as Devon No. 2, will be the third well in Taranaki sunk by the company. The plant used for other wells in the province has been transferred to the present site, about a mile west of Devon No. 1 bore. Drilling at the latter was discontinued within the past two months and aood time has been made in moving the heavy gear. The site now being worked on is approximately in the centre of a triangle represented by Devon No. 1 and two wells sunk about 12 years ago by other companies. These two wells were said to show promising signs when drilling ceased at a depth of about 3000 feet.

Test boring in connection with the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Limited, geological and geophysical survey is continuing in other 'parts of .he province.
