The balance-sheet, showing a total credit of £54 10s Id, was received as satisfactory. The annual report stated: The Branch, once again, is fortunate in being able to report a successful year, both financially and in membership, there actually being a larger number of members for the year than in any previous year. Nurse Pearce has been of valuable assistance to the Society, and to the mothers and babes generally. At various times during the year, the committee, with the nurse’s assistance, has handled the distribution and sale of oranges as they came to hand, all profits from these sales going to patriotic purposes. The committee expressed sympathy recently with Mesdames Wylde and Auld,' in the sad loss of their daughters. In July, Mrs Wafer lost her son while on active servise, and to her and her family also, the committee extends its deepest sympathy. In March of this year we were most unfortunate in losing the services of •Mrs Martin and the committee met to bid her farewell and to make her a small presentation as a gesture of thanks for her willing efforts to assist the Society during the past few years. There was a very generous response to the annual house-to-house collection. At an E.P.S. trial held during the year the Plunket Aids took their part in the proceedings. Our thanks are due, as always, to our auditor, Mrs Tailentire, to the Press, .and to others who have given of their time and' energy during the year. I wish to take this opportunity of expressing my keen appreciation and thanks to the committee, past and present, for its kindness and consideration to me during my four-year term as secretary. Nurse Pearce’s yearly report stated: No. of visits to district, 52; No. of visits to homes, old 180, new 83; No. of visits to rooms, adults 665, babes 636, older children 35 total 1336; new cases 40; cases under supervision at present, babes 44, older children, nil. General progress has been good. As in other parts of the district, heavy colds in the spring and diarrhoea in the summer months have retarded progress in some cases for a time. Nurse Pearce thanked the committee and those in Runanga who had been so kind and extended so much hospitality to her during the year. The Runanga Co-operative Women’s Guild held a social and dance in the Druids’ Hall on Friday evening, the occasion being their birthday party. Items were contributed by Mrs Taylor and Mrs Rutherford, Mr Worgan with his performing dog and Miss Worgan (pianoforte solo). Music for the dancing was supplied i by Mesdames Reimolds, Hinks, Theyers and Miss Worgan. Supper was 1 served and Mrs Oakley (Guild President), thanked all present for their attendance. Mrs Schultz, the oldest member of the Guild, was called upon to light the candles on the birthday cake. An apology was received from Mr T. Bowes, Manager of the Co-op-erative Society. Mr Oakley, President of the Society, spoke on the necessity of Co-operation. Members of the committee endorsed his statements. Prize-winners were: Lucky Seat (ladies), Mrs A. Taylor; (gents), Mr E.
