EMPIRE YOUTH PARADE

RUGBY, May 16.

The Queen, addressing an Empire Youth Sunday parade on the lawns of Buckingham Palace including 2000 boy and girl members of the Red Cross .and Order of St. John Youth Services, said: “To-day, cur hearts are filled with thangsgiving for the great events which have marked the past weeks and for the success which under God’s guidance, has rewarded the endurance and courage of countless men and women from all parts of the Empire. Amongst them are the fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers of many of you. All these have given up all that is most dear to them, because they believe that no price is too great to pay for justice, liberty and truth. It is for you, youths of this country, to show you are not unmindful of their example I would like you to go home with a firm resolve to work as bravely and as steadfastly for a better world for all mankind in the peace to come, as you are working now to end this war in victory. To do this, you must train yourselves now to be able to fulfil this resolve in the future —to serve one another selflessly and to put all your trust in Almighty God.’’ 6
