lOur Own Correspondent.] Mrs T. Grace has returned from a visit to Christchurch Mrs T. Maizy and son have re turned from Wellington. Miss G. Burchfield and Miss M. McEwan and Mr B. Watson, students of the Christchurch Teachers Training College, are spending the term holidays on the hill. Mr and Mrs Frank Plummer have returned from Wellington and Chustehnrch Mrs C. Fox and Mrs S. Plummer left on Wednesday for Christchurch. Sergeant-Observer C. Nichol has been home on furlough and has returned to his station. . „ . Mr T. Edwards of Christchurch, has been spending a holiday on Millerton. , • j Mr L. Kelly of Greymouth, visited Millerton last week-end. The Thistle soccer team played Waimangaroa teams on the local domain last Sunday. The home side won six nil. Mr C. Orman was referee. The Millerton School soccei team played Waimangaroa School at Millerton on Sunday. The home side won one nil. Mr C. Orman had charge' of the game. . The Patriotic Committee held tneir usual whist drive tournament in the Rechabite Hall on Monday night. Mr T. Pollock won the men’s prize .and Mrs C. Orman the ladies’. The funeral of the late Mrs Ellen Keepin was largely attended by relatives and friends on Wednesday, at the Orawaiti Cemetery. The pallbearers were Mr T. Grace, Mr RJack, Mr R. Harker and Mr C. Barnes. The sympathy of the community is extended to the relatives in their loss.

A successful social and dance was run by the Patriotic Committee recently in Peggie’s Hall. Music was supplied by Campbell’s Orchestra. Songs were rendered by the Misses P. Popich, P. Woods, P. Orman and F. Fox. The lucky spot was won by Miss P. Orman and Mr G. Burt. Supper was served by the ladies’ committee.
