ALEXANDER MINES. The Alexander Mine report for March, states: —Development: No. b level rise: This has been advanced to a total of 34 feet above No. 6 level, without hitting fault, and in view of the fact that the back of the rise is now higher than the drag m No 6 Intermediate Magazine Cross-cut, work has been transferred to this location, and sinking on the fault plane commenced. No. 2 Stope Crosscut has been driven a total of 40 feet without revealing any further ore. Stoping: Stoping and filling operations have been carried out as usual under No. 5 level and in the stope north of No. 2 Rise. The tonnage for the month was 136, which was hauled from the mine. The gold returns for. the month were: Battery Department, 120 tons of ore crushed for 38 ozs. of melted gold, valued at £290. Cyanide Department: This has not been cleaned up. Concentrates: In addition to the above, 21 tons of concentrates were saved, valued at £6O. In estimating the values, gold has been taken at 160 s per fine ounce. »
