BISHOP CONSECRATED

Dunedin Ceremony P.A. DUNEDIN, March 25. For the third time in its history the Catholic Church has enthroned a New Zealand-born son as a Bishop. This morning, in the crowded St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Rt. Rev. Dr. H. J. O’Neill was consecrated Coadjutor Bishop of Dunedin. ‘ His Grace Archbishop O’Shea, of Wellington, was the consecrating Prelate.

There were one hundred and seventeen visiting Prelates and Priests for the ceremony, which was rich in the Church’s pageantry. At night, devotions were held, when the Archbishop presided, and Bishop O’Neill pontificated. Bishop J. M. Liston, of Auckland, preached the sermon.
