MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the Greymouth Returned Services’ Association was held on Monday evening, Mr O. McLean presiding. Also present were Messrs T. Jones, M. Trouland, G. G. M. Mitchell, W. Green, J. Crooks, J. Smith, R. Kellaher, G. Battv and W. E. Bring. Tn'e ass.slant secretary reported that he had interviewed the Harbour Board regarding a section at Blaketown and it was resolved to have the Association’s title put in order. It was decided to send a letter of

thanks to Mr J. Duffy for organising the concert at the Regent Theatre, which resulted in a 1 profit of £42 Is 2d. Members mentioned that Mr Duffy was always prominent in assisting the R.S.A. Benevolent Fund. A donation to the fund from Mr is. O. Henry was acknowledged with thanks.

The act’on of the secretary in connection' with four cases of financial ass.stance for men in the armed forces was approved. The secretary, said that, the Grey Patriotic Society had assisted with financial grants m all cases brought to their notice; nil men returning from overseas were liberally treated.

Reports were received from Mr McLean on the distribution of the Benevolent Fund and from Mr Jones, the Grey Hospital visitor. Both were thanked for their work. Messrs Kellaher and Green were appointed representatives on the Westland Provincial Patriotic Council.

It was decided to a'sk Mesdames McLean and McKane to organise Poppy Day. Arrangements for the usual Anzac Day serv’ces were left to- the secretary.

The annual meeting was fixed for April 12. It was decided to entertain the American Marines at a smoke concert at Harker’s on Monday evening next, with ■ a special invitation tor men returned from the present war. Mr Duffy was asked to take charge of the programme The secretary; reported that no complaints of non-attent on were received from men returning from the war. The R.S.A. representative. S/Sgt. Guerdin, has full instructions from the Greymouth R.S.A. to attend to all requirements. It was decided to support an application that chiropractic treatment be brought under the Social Security scheme.
