He 3 was a native of Kumara and received , his primary education in the Convent t School. He was always a. popular i visitor to his native town. Mr. D. A. McLean was admitted to ' the Westland Hospital on Monday. ' Miss Pauline Lawrence is a patient in the Westland Hospital. > The annual Kumara Sawmillers’ > Picnic was held on the Recreation 1 ground on Saturday afternoon. Des- • pite the threatening weather ’there > was quite a good attendance, and the children had an enjoyable afteri noon. An interesting programme of : sports was proceeded with. All memi bers of the committee worked well to ensure success. Ice cream, apples, and soft drinks were supplied by the committee, and hot water was obtained on the ground.
