ON GUADALCANAR

NEW U.S. COMMANDER. WASHINGTON, Jan. 21. Major-General Alexander Patch United States Army, recently assumed command of the United States forces on Guadalcanal*. He relieved General Vandergrift, who commanded since the initial occupation by Marines last August.
