BURMA FRONT
STRONG ENEMY STAND IN WESTERN AREA. LONDON, Jan. 20, A communique from India says there has been no big change in the land fighting in Burma. The enemy is resisting strongly in the Arakan district, round the village of Rathedaung and west of it. . A later India communique states: Strong enemy resistance continues in Arakan. Blenheims have again bombed enemy positions round Rathedaung and also a village (Padali) on Akyab Island. Combats occurred between these and escorting fighters. One Japanese was destroyed and others damaged. Ours all returned. Another atack was made on Rathedaung later*in the day, and also positions nearby and water transport elsewhere. The aerodrome at Meiktila was attacked. Japanese water transport and the aerodrome at Meiktila were also attacked from the air. All the attacking aircraft returned.
