WESTPORT FIREMAN
Killed on Vessel TORPEDOED BY JAPANESE. (Rec. 9.40.) SYDNEY, Jan. 21. One of the two casualties that were mentioned in last night’s message about the sinking of an Allied vessel somewhere off the Australian coast by a Japanese submarine was a New Zealander. He was a fireman. James Corcoran, of Westport. With another fireman, Corcoran was caught in the stokehold of the vessel, and he must have been killed instantly. ,
