One of the two casualties that were mentioned in last night’s message about the sinking of an Allied vessel somewhere off the Australian coast by a Japanese submarine was a New Zealander. He was a fireman. James Corcoran, of Westport. With another fireman, Corcoran was caught in the stokehold of the vessel, and he must have been killed instantly. ,
