WESTPORT, Jan. 19. Mr. A. Hill of Timar u is paying a business visit to Westport. R.M. T. K. McGillivray, arrived from Auckland on a visit to his wife. Mr. A. C. Bascand, Engineer Manager of Westport Harbour Board, and Mrs. Basca’nd irelturned yesterday from a visit to Christchurch. „Mr. Burn, Nelson, who has been spending a holiday at Westport, left yesterday on return to Nelson. Mrs. R. Gilbert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Rasmussen, of Ahaura, and formerly of Westport, is a guest of Mr. and Mrs Gilbert, Queen Steel W.O. H. R. Gibson, of Chistchurcn is visiting Westport as the' guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Fountaine. Superintendent J. Daily ha's received advice that Supt. I. Morrison, of Christchurch Central Fire Station, will arrive in Westport to-day, to report on the personnel of the nre service at Westport, the report to be passed on to Mr. W. Wilson, who will report to the Government. The District Patriotic Committee, acknowledges £7 15s from the Millerton Patriotic Committee, also £1 10s for soldiers’ from W. Wheatley. The plane arrived from the south on Monday, but on receipt of a bad ( report from Nelson, did not go north returning instead, to Greymouth and Hokitika. J Following are port statistics for, Westport for 1942 and the two previous years: 1942: 377 ships, 468,14 b tons of coal shipped; 1941: 369 ships, 478,205 tons of coal; 1940: 402 ships, 479,958 tons of coal. Mr. and Mrs. Chards arrived yesterday from Christchurch on a visit to Westport. Mrs. Vogel, of Christchurch is visiting Westport as the guest of Air. and Mrs. J. Daily. The Rev. S. Corney was a recent visitor to Reefton. Air. M. Tally left yesterday on a' visit to Christchurcn, where his marriage is to take place to-day.
