On the eve of his departure to join the R.N.Z.A.F,, Mr Anthony Ward, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Wm„ Ward, Tainui Street, was last evening farewelled bv a crowded gathering of friends, at St. Columba Club’s hall, and was tendered a presentation, comprising a money belt with a substantial cash content. Rev. Father F. E. Kelly made the presentation, and extended the recipient the best wishes of his many friends; while Rev. Brother Chanel spoke of the good qualities of Mr Ward and expressed confidence i n his ability to give efficient service in the sphere in which he had chosen to serve. After an excellent supper the assemblage devoted itself to dancing, music for which was provided by Misses R. Ward and Mr J. Stokes. Mr Ward leaves for his station early next week.

O’Leary, appointed Assistant Quartermaster General (Ordnance) Army Headquarters, and granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant Colonel and Quartermaster; New Zealand Temporary Staff, Major G. T. Kellaway, Second N.Z.E.F., Assistant Quartermaster General (1), Army Headquarters, to be Lieutenant Colonel (Temp.); Major C. C. Marsack, appointed Assistant Quartermaster General, 3, (movements), Army Headquarters, and granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant Colonel; Major F. C. Gleeson, Staff Officer, mechanical transport (tech.), Army Headquarters, to be Lieutenant Colonel (Temp.); Major O. D. Sutcliffe, appointed Assistant Quartermaster General, 2, (quartering), Army Headquarters, and granted tne temporary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In the regiment of Royal New Zealand Artillery, Major J. R. * Page is to be Lieutenant Colonel (Temp.) and attached to the branch of the Chief of General Staff, Army Headquarters. In the New Zealand Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps, Miss Mary Stevenson is to be Junior Subaltern and appointed officer in charge of an overseas section.
