TOKIO RAID
Made by Carrier Planes PRESSMAN’S DISCLOSURE. (Rec. 9.20.) CHICAGO. Nov. 24. A book written by Mr Robert Casey, a correspondent of the “Chicago Daily News” has been published. Its title is “Torpedo Junction.” The book indicates that the American air planes which raided Japan on April 18 last, were carrier-based ones. At the time of the Tokio: raid, Mr Casey’s whereabouts were a secret. His own office knew only that he was with the United States Fleet. Mr Casey’S diary for April 18, the date of the raid, reads as follows.— “North of Marcus—lt is cold. There is a seventy-five mile gale blowing. It is rough The carrier is upending a lot of its ’planes, despite the weather. I do not know 1 what that proves, except that an aeroplane will actually fly in this soup. “2.30 p.m.: The Tokio radio has announced an air raid. Excuse us, please, for wondering if our journey up here might have been synchronised to this raid. “9.0 p.m. We are turning eastward, and what do you make of that ?”
