WRECKED CITIES
In North Italy R.A.F. CREATES PROBLEM (Rec. 11.20) LONDON, Nov. 25. The Rome radio says that hundreds of workmen are rushing to Genoa, Milan and Turin to clear up I wreckage from the series of recent R.A.F. raids. This follows on Mussolini’s holding a conference yesterday ■ with the Mayors of Genoa. Milan and Turin. The “Evening Standard’s” Berne correspondent says: The Mayors of the cities emphasised to Mussolini the seriousness of the dislocation of food distribution, owing to an exodus of populations from entire northern towns, and also said there was rising public discontent with the administration because of black market scandals. The Fascist Party secretary, Valdo Vidusoni, met party inspectors yesterday, and ordered them to tackle a particularly delicate situation in the north. ITALY “FED UP.” NEW YORK, Nov. 24. At Norfolk (Virginia) the British Ambassador, Lord Halifax, told a Press conference that undoubtedly Italy would like to get out of 'the war, but Germany would not allow her. There is no love lost between Italy and Germany, a fact whicn places an added strain on Hitler a war machine. Italy was not a free country but was as much an occupied country as Belgium and France.
