Mrs H.. A. S. Rollinson is visiting Canterbury. She will return next week.

Aircraftsmen F. Smith and• R. Mountjoy, who visited Greymouth dur ng the week-end, returned to their station yesterday morning.

Mr Harold Steel, of Carterton, who has been visiting relatives in Greymouth, left on return by last evening’s rail-car. The death of Mr James Aitken has occurred at the age of 88. He was headmaster of ths- Wanganui District High School from 1891 to 1921 when he retired after 51 years’ teachin". He taught in Dunedin from 1882 to 1886 and in Geraldine from 1887 to 1890,

Rev. E. S. Hoddinott, of St. Pafil’s Methodist Church, Greymouth, and Mrs Hoddinot-t, with Rev. L. G. Hanna and Mrs Gilchrist, of Hokitika left yesterday to attend the Nelson District Synod, which is being held at Blenheim this week. Rev,. L. T. Norwell, of Reefton, will also attend the Synod.

The death occurred yesterday at his residence, Dunollie, of Mr. Thomas O’Neill a well-known resident, after an illness lasting in all a period of nine years. A native of Hokitika, the late Mr. O’Neill formerly was employed in the coal mining industry and took a keen interest in footoall and boxing activities. Besides his mother, he leaves five sisters and four brothers, the former being Mesdames G. Gillanders (Ruru), HMunson (Greymouth), J. Haisty and L Rough (Blackball) and A. oell (Wellington). The brothers are Frank (Greymouth), Denis, William A and Charles' (Runanga). The funeral takes place to-morrow.

The wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth on Saturday afternoon of Wmifred, youngest daughter of Mr J - w ° od ’ Cobden and the late Mrs Wood, and Rilot ’Officer George Delahunty, R.N.Z.A.F., second son of Mr and Mrs G Delahunty, Otoko, Gisborne. Rev. Father Gregory officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a model frock of ivory figured cloque, with turban and shoulder veil to tone, and a shoulder spray of cream, roses. She was attended by her sisrer, Marie, who wore a model frock vt rust marocain, with hat to tone, and a shoulder sprav of pink roses. Mr J. J. Wood, brother of the bride, was best’ man. A reception was held, at the home of the bride’s father. Pilot Officer] Delahunty and Mrs Delahunty left by the rail-car for Christchurch, the bride travelling in a frock of dusky pink, with hpt and coat to tone, and navy accessories. ,
