Mr. F. L. Turley left for Christchurch on Tuesday.

Mrs. M. M. Dreaver, M.P., left yesterday for Hokitika and will return to Christchurch 'to-day. Aircraftman E. E. Creagh, arrived yesterday on a holiday visit to his mother Mrs E. Creagh, Hokitixa.

Fraser) has announced that Her Excellency, Lady Newall, has consented to accept the appointment as titular head of the women’s units in the Armed Forces and Emergency Reserve Corps. Her Excellency will hold the following appointments:— Commandanb-in-Chief of the Women s Royal New Zealand Naval Service, Commandant-in-Chief of the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps, Com-mandant-in-Chief of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, Commandant-m-Chief of the Women’s Civil Defence Services.
