SEPTEMBER CALL-UP
35-37 YEAR OLDS NOT ENTERING CAMP TILL NEW YEAR. WANGANUI, Nov. 17. It was announced from Wellington on October 10 that those in the callup of September 15—men aged 35, 36, and 37 years—would start to enter camp in about a fortnight. There is, however, no indication yet, in Wanganui, when they will be required for service. A message from Wellington on October 10, said: “It was announced to-day that a start will be made in about a fortnight with the calling up for service of the men recently gazetted. These are men in the 35. 36 and 37 year groups.” Since then nothing further has been heard, except that certain selected reservists and a number of youths have been called in. Appeal Boards are still dealing with the appeals of men gazetted in September, although in the meantime, another call-up of men aged 38, 39 and 40 years, has been announced.
It was unofficially suggested to-day that the majority of the men in the 35, 36 and 37 years call-up will not be required to enter camp until after Christmas and the New Year holidays.
