THE POPE’S GRANT
High Judicial Powers TO CHURCH IN U.S.A. (Rec. 10.40.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 , Pone Pius XII. has conferred on the Catholic Church in America, for the first time in its history .the power to function as does the Sacred Roman Rota, which is the Church’s highest judicial tribunal. This authority has been granted for a period of three years, because of the difficulties of the wartime communications between America and the Vatican. The great bulk of the Rota cases involve questions of matrimonial validity. American cases of this nature will now be decided in America.
