(Our Own Correspondent). REEFTON, Oct. 7. The wedding took place on Monday evening at St. Stephen’s Church, of Jean Kathleen, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. ,A. McVicar, and Percival Samuel, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Dellaca. The bride, ; escorted by her father, wore a gown of white marquisette, with short tulle veil and a cornet of freesias. Her bouquet was of roses, carnations, cyciaman and forget-me-nots. Miss Marcia' McVicar, sister of the bride, and Sister A. Quinn of Inangahua Hospital staff (of which the bride was a member), were bridesmaids. Miss McVicar wore a frock of rose du harry and Sister Quinn one of acquarnarine taffeta with matching jackets trimmed with reverse colours. The bouquets were of lemon pink and blue anemonies. freesias and hyacinths. Private J. Dellaca, brother of the bridegroom, was best man and Mr. D. E. McVicar, , groomsman. Rev D. S. Evans, performed the ceremony. Mrs. J. B. Discaciati played the wedding march and during the signing of the register, Sister A. *Quinn sang a solo “I’ll Walk Beside You.” At the reception at the home of the bride’s parents, Mrs. McVicar wore a navy ensemble relieved with white, navy, hat and a shoulder spray of freesias. Mrs. Dellaca, mother ot the bridegroom wore a black costume, and hat trimmed with white and a shoulder spray of freesias. The bride travelled in a mustard and green check suit, with mustard hat and jumper, with brown accessories. The honeymoon is to be spent in Invercargill. Mr. and Mrs. Dellaca will reside in the Reefton district. At the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr G. G. Chisholm S.M., for being found on licensed premises after hours, two first offenders were each fined 10/-, with costs 10/-. Mrs. H. Banks for allowing 28 cows to wander on the street, was fined 30Z- with costs 30/-. A power failure on Monday due to a blow out on the main transmission line which was soon remedied by the Greymouth Power Board’s staff caused a stoppage of work for five hours at Bourke’s Creek colliery. Home Guard, numbering approximately 45 are attending a nightly course of instruction at Reefton. At a meeting of Motueka Licensing Committee the Police Inspector made formal objection to renewal of the (license of W. Honley for Dawson’s Hotel, Reefton. Mr. G. G. Chisholm (Chairman) said the Committee already had decided not to renew the license over the present building. Mr. J. X. Patterson, for the owners, said a contract had been let for repairs to the building which would be more extensive than specified by the Inspector of Health. The contractor was under way with the work. He asked for the renewal of license. The Chairman said that the renewal could not be granted and considered that an adjournment should be considered until the repair work was carried out, at least. It was resolved that the application be adjourned until the December meeting. Mrs J. Wade sustained a painful injury when a knife slipped and inflicted a wound in the hand' at the base of the first finger. Medical attention was required. _ At the Magistrate’s. Court, the Hospital Board obtained judgment by default for £5 10s against Densil Downie. J. O’Flahertv was fined 10s with costs for not. having his dog registered. A maintenance, action * against F. P. Dwyer was withdrawn. At the Warden’s Court. Albert Edward Eklund (Mr Patterson), applied for a coal lease over ten acres in Block X Reefton S.D., this being objected to by William James Morris (Mr Morgan).
