CANADIAN RIFLES
LARGE OUTPUT* OTTAWA, August-18. The Minister of Munitions (Mr. Howe) announced the remarkable progress of Canadian small arms production in the past three months. The Bren gun is almost one-third of the total production to June 30. The cost has been reduced from 390 dollars in the first quarter of 1941 to 192 dollars this vear. For every four number four rifles produced in June, an extra one was noduced in July* The present rate is twice that of April. Number four is equipped with, the new short style bayonet. A simplified back-sight magazine holds five rounds, and 15 aimed shots can be fired a minute.
