(Our Own Correspondent WESTPORT, June 14. Privates F. Foote, A. W. Stollery; and S. Stewart have left to take/the O.C.T.W. course. Misses Phyllis Palmer and Maureen Dymond have returned from the North Island. . Sergeant Pilot E. R. Reynolds is here on a visit to his parents. Lieut. T. H. G. Hullah and Cpl. RJ. Collins have left for a course of instruction. The Home Guard Selection Committee, Messrs Rawlins (Manpower Committee), E. Fair (Home Guard), and C. F. Schadick (E.P.S.) have now dealt with the whole of the Home Guard registrations in the Borough of Westport and the Buller County. Mr. J. W. Curtis presided over a meet’ng of the Automobile Association when it was reported that the Buller County Council had agreed to effect repairs to the West Creek crossing, which has been badly scoured, several motorists having sustained damage to their cars there. The S.I.M.U. Insurance Company advised they were giving 33 IJ31 J 3 per cent., bonus on premiums due as from June 1 last. It was agreed that future executive meetings be held on the first pay Saturday in each month at 7pm The Executive had suggested to head office that subscriptions for the coming year be reduced to 10/6 per annum for the duration ot the war. The executive also agreed that motorists would be well advised tn re-register their cars in view or the fact that motor cars deteriorate rapidly while idle It was decided tn write to the Hon. P. C. asking whether he had anything further to report regarding installations of bulk storage at Westport. There was a good attendance at the card tournament held in the R.o. A. Club rooms. The prize winners were Mrs. Spencer 1. Mrs H. Todd 2. Mrs Alford 3 A forty-fives tourney was won bv Mrs Hayes.
