(Rec 7.30)) PRETORIA, June 13. General Smuts, broadcasting on the eve of the United Nations Day, said: “What the infant League of Nations failed to achieve, the United Nations will attempt, and they will rebuild on deeper, surer foundations. We hope to build a union which no future Hitler, not even Hell itseK, shall venture again to challenge. We have good reason for high hopes. The pattern of victory is being woven, and alignments which mean victory are forming. We at last have caught up with the equipment of the .enemy. If our efforts are sustained, the end will be beyond doubt.”
