SEVENTY AT SINGAPORE.

P.A. WELLINGTON, June 2. The Government has been informed by the International Red Cross that there are about 70 New Zealanders prisoners of war in Singapore. Excluding 30 unofficial prisoners of war, the total now on the files in Wellington is 6,129. New Zealanders in Germany have been receiving parcels. Relatives with •;letters of acknowledgement from prisoners for personal parcels -from New Zealand are asked to inform the Inquiry Office so tnat tne information can be passed on to relatives who have not received letters. Letters from prisoners are now coming through fairly freely, some posted as recently as the middle of March.

A cablegram regarding complaints from men in Italian camps has been received from the International Red Cross, which states that immediately it is informed of camp strengths it has regularly supplied food, clotn,ing, and books to Italian camps. It cannot act until such information is received.
