KUMARA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). A wedding of local interest recently took place at St. Albans Methodist Church, Christchurch, when Noleen, eldest daughter of Mi - and Mrs L. J. Thwaites, Kumara was married to Carol Raymond, son of Mrs B. .1. Black, Mt. Eden, Auckland. The officiating clergyman was Rev. M. Rugby Pratt. The bride was dressed in ivory silk velvet and carried a sheaf of hothouse flowers. She was attended by her sister, Mrs H. G. Gilmore, as Matron of Honour, and by Miss Fay Thwaites as bridesmaid, both of whom were attired in blue velvet. The bridegroom was attended by his brother. Bombardier Jack Black as best man. The church was tastefully decorated by (friends of the bride. Mr and Mrs C. R. Black will make their home in Auckland. Mr Fred Kean, formerly of Kumara, who is now farming at Owaka Southland, visited relatives with his daughter over the week-end. ~ Miss Joan Aylward, of Blackball, has been spending a short holiday with Mrs J. Gibson, Seddon Street. Mr and Mrs J'. Barron, Balclutha, have been spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs Fred Baretta, Boundary R°ad. . Rev. H. S. Hamilton, a former vicar, recently paid a flying visit to Kumara. , , . Mrs J. M. Fisher, who has been visiting DJllmanstown, returned on Thursday to Prebbleton Mrs J. Curtis of Ohakune, has been visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs D. A.
