MIDWAY ISLAND
JAP. ATTACKS REPULSED. PEARL HARBOUR, M'ay 6. Admiral Mimitz, who has returned from an inspection of Midway Island, revealed that Midway defenders have successfully repulsed five Japanese attacks since December, the last one on March 3, when Marines shot down a Japanese patrol, seaplane. Admiral Mimitz awarded honours to Marine aviators and Naval personnel at Midway Island for heroic defensive efforts.
