ALLIED BOMBERS
RAID LAE AND RABAUL. (Rec. midnight) CANBERRA, May 6. A communique issued by General MacArthur states that Allied bomb' ers again raided Rabaul and Lae, on Tuesday. They scored hits on enemy bombers on the ground in Lae. Hits were also scored on the target aiea in Rabaul. NEW AUSTRALIAN AIR CHIEF. (Rec. Midnight). CANBERRA. Mav 6. Australia’s new Air Chief in succession to Sir Charles Burnett was appointed to-day. He is Air Commodore George Jones, who was hitherto Director cf Air Training, Director <t Persona! Services Director of Recruiting. < nd Assistant Chief of Air Staff. He vj)l work in conjunction with General Brett, Head of the United Stales Air Corps.
