SMUGGLED GUNS

SWEDISH PROTEST. AGAINST BRITISH ACTION. (Rec. 8.5.) STOCKHOLM, April 24. The Government of Sweden has protested to Britain regarding the alleged arming of the ten Norwegian ships which broke out from Goteborg, as cabled on April 2. The Swedish police made an investigation, and this, it is alleged, has disclosed that twenty light machineguns had been smuggled aboard the vessels. The English captains of two of the vessels which returned to Sweden, have been summoned for the contravention of the Swedish Regulations. Germany has already protested to Sweden. The Swedish paper “Dagensnyhteter,” states: It has unfortunately been confirmed that the British Legation and Consular officials smuggled arms aboard the vessels.
