BODY FOUND

MISSING DEERSTALKER. The body of Robert Nelson McLag.an, aged 18 years, of Barrytown. was found buried in the sand on the bank of the Grey River, two miles up from Ahaura, about 5 p.m. yesterday. McLagan along with Cornelius Alexander Werner, aged 16, of Christchurch, was swept away on April' 4, while attempting to ford the Clarke River near where it joins the Grey. The men were on a deerstalking expedition with Werner’s elder brother. McLagan’s body was discovered yesterdav afternoon by a party consisting of Constable A. W. Honey, of Ahaura, Mrs. J. Jenkins (Constable Honey’s daughter) and Mrs. G. Kidd. The_body was decomposed but was identified by the military web equipment. It was buried in the sand, above the normal" high-water mark, but within the reach of the ' river when in flood. The search for Werner’s body will be continued to-day, with a large number of assistants Mr. McLagan is survived by his mother, Mrs. A. C. ■ McLagan, of Barrytown, one sister, Miss Nancy McLagan, of Barrytown, and one brother, Angus of the R.N.Z.A.F. ITs father died 10 years ago. The funeral will take place to-morrow.
